Due to the suspension of Lucas Hernandez (5th yellow card), Julian Nagelsmann has to rebuild his defensive line against Leverkusen. The 34-year-old has opted for a back four with Benjamin Pavard, Niklas Süle, Dayot Upamecano and Omar Richards. Sven Ulreich is in goal again. The game against the Werkself comes too soon for captain Manuel Neuer.
Jamal Musiala starts alongside Joshua Kimmich in defensive midfield. The 19-year-old youngster was allowed to start in attacking midfield against Frankfurt. This role is again taken over by Thomas Müller, who celebrates his comeback right away after surviving the corona infection.
