The Superior Court of Quebec partially lifted certain elements of these warrants on Thursday.

A search warrant at the Granby home of the 47-year-old man accused of the murder of Guylaine Potvin has been granted.

Investigators were looking for specific objects relating to the murder of the 19-year-old young woman in Jonquière in April 2000, including a graduate ring from Polyvalente Jean-Dolbeau, an Astra brand camera and a red box that would have contained $200. .

However, it is not specified whether these objects were found during the search.

Another warrant was granted for the taking of fingerprints and body (DNA) prints from the suspect.

The investigation had already revealed that identical DNA had already been taken from the accommodation on rue Panet, in Jonquière, and in Sainte-Foy, the place where an attack took place in July 2000 and where the victim had been left for dead.

The reasons that led the police on the trail of the 47-year-old man are not revealed in the documents consulted by TVA Nouvelles.

To justify these warrants in October 2022, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) had insisted on the criminal past of Marc-André Grenon, recalling his night intrusions into homes.

He had been released three days before the April 2000 murder and had given the Chicoutimi home for the homeless as his address.

The investigation has always remained active after the sad events.

In the weeks and months following the two crimes, investigators targeted more than 300 people, including students from Cégep de Jonquière and Laval University.

They were all ruled out due to DNA.

In 2007 and 2009, the SQ turned to Interpol to carry out searches in various American states.

The survey was expanded to 30 countries in 2021.

Marc-André Grenon was arrested on October 12, more than 20 years after the murder of the young student from Jonquière.

He also allegedly sexually assaulted another young woman from Sainte-Foy a few months later, in July 2000.

The accused returns to court on February 1.
