The shock is still deep: A 12- and a 13-year-old girl are said to have stabbed their friend Luise († 12) in Freudenberg, Germany. The body was found on Sunday, March 12.
In Germany, criminal responsibility begins at the age of 14. Nevertheless, the crime has consequences for the two perpetrators. As the “image” reports, they are threatened with accommodation in a closed institution. The girls and their families have now left the town of Freudenberg.
District judge Thorsten Schleif told the newspaper: “You are in a youth welfare facility, possibly in a psychiatric ward.”
And further: “Whether they are housed in a closed facility depends on whether they pose a threat to others or themselves.”
The rules in such an institution are strict. Inmates are not allowed to use cell phones. In addition, they must remain on the premises of the facility at all times. School and therapy are on the agenda.
The perpetrators also face financial penalties, as the “Bild” writes. Because the children may have to pay compensation once they earn money.
Under civil law, a conviction for such a payment in Germany is possible from the age of seven. The condition: the perpetrator must understand that he is behaving in a harmful manner.
Parents do not have to pay compensation for their children. If convicted, the girls have 30 years to transfer the corresponding sum.
