If you have special requests when ordering, you can ensure that you don't get an old cheeseburger that someone else ordered and no longer wanted, he writes on Reddit.

If you want your burger with bacon, without pickles or without onions, you can place a “special order” that McDonald’s will prepare fresh.

Which employer is the least attractive? To clarify this, the Randstad company interviewed 4,341 people in Switzerland: On the last place ended up McDonald’s. When asked, the fast-food chain says that it experiences things differently: According to a survey of employees, 70 percent of “crew members” and 85 percent of “employees from restaurant management” are proud to work at McDonald’s.

A 20-year-old from McDonald’s in Murten also reports positive things: He writes down Redditthat he likes working at the fast food chain. The working atmosphere is good, he has a great team and the superiors are friendly. Thanks to the flexible schedules, it is also possible to study alongside work.

The person also expresses criticism on Reddit. That’s what McDonald’s says about it.

It has to be quick

“The managers want us to hurry to serve because there’s a time limit for everything,” the 20-year-old wrote on Reddit. The branch will only remain open if you keep to the times. “That’s why it often happens that we misplace or forget something.” New fries would have to be out in a maximum of seven minutes, burgers in ten minutes. “Sometimes we don’t stick to the guidelines,” admits the employee.

McDonald’s Switzerland says that guests expect quick service, especially around lunchtime. That’s why they rely on “various digital tools” to avoid such misunderstandings.

This is how you get fresh food

But how do you get the freshest possible food? “Order rare items or make special requests!” For example, vegan burgers or chicken, which are not in the McChicken, but in the Spicy BBQ. If you want your burger with bacon, without pickles or without onions, place a “special order” that is freshly prepared. “This way you don’t get an old cheeseburger that someone ordered and didn’t want anymore.”

McDonald’s disagrees: “This tip is irrelevant because today we prepare all burgers to order.” A warming compartment is no longer in use – so the menus are always fresh.

Fight against food waste

“Everything is mediocre and overpriced – especially the shrimp and chicken tenders,” the person said. He has never spat into the food of unfriendly guests: “That would be unprofessional.” But he has also bottled the coldest fries, not completely filled up with milk or only packed a serviette.

McDonald’s counters that food is handled with care. The teams are experienced enough to know on which day, at what time and in what weather they have to prepare which ingredients. Since you make Big Mac & Co. directly to order, you can avoid food waste.

Used frying oil becomes biodiesel

And what happens to the food that McDonald’s doesn’t sell? “We have to throw everything away, not even the employees are allowed to have it,” says the Reddit user. If an ingredient expires, you have to dispose of it.

At McDonald’s there is around 6.5 grams of food waste per person in the kitchen area, the company says. This value is much lower than in other catering establishments. Food waste is used for something new: “We have biodiesel made from our used frying oil and biogas is made from our organic kitchen waste.”
