Musician dies aged 35. Know signs of stroke

The musician Nandinho Luiz, from the pagoda group Vício de Samba, died last Sunday (26/2), due to a Cerebral Vascular Accident (CVA). “With a lot of pain in our hearts, we came to inform you that we lost our brother! Nandinho, unfortunately, died! May God comfort us all!”, the other members of the group said on Instagram.

A stroke – popularly known as a stroke – is not just a risk for the elderly. Cases like Nandinho’s, unfortunately, have become common.

“The lifestyle of young people has deteriorated for some time now, which has increased the risk of stroke in this age group. Smoking, alcoholism, poor diet and stress can be causes not only of stroke, but also of other cardiovascular pathologies”, warns cardiologist Érica Renata de Medeiros Cabral, from the Cardiosenior clinic, in Taguatinga.

Signals

Cerebral Vascular Accident (CVA) happens when vessels that carry blood to the brain clog or rupture, which causes paralysis in the affected brain region. The cardiologist explains that the signs of a stroke in young people are similar to those of older people and include:

  • Lip rhyme deviation, when the person’s smile is crooked to one side;
  • Intense headache, which does not go away and has no recognized reason;
  • Weakness on one side of the body, which prevents, for example, the movement of a leg or arm;
  • Sudden disorientation, when a person can no longer speak, express themselves or seems dizzy;
  • High pressure;
  • I faint.

when to worry

A mild headache is not a sign of a stroke. She can simply be a sign of dehydration, for example. The concern, therefore, is when the pain is strong, for no apparent reason and associated with high blood pressure, above 18/9.

“It’s a very strong headache with signs that the labial rhyme is deviating or is losing strength, numbness in the arm. It is important to seek help urgently so that the treatment is carried out as quickly as possible”, points out the doctor.

One of the ways to prevent stroke is to adopt healthy habits such as, for example, avoiding foods rich in fried foods, controlling cholesterol and stress levels, exercising, avoiding smoking and alcoholic beverages.
