Pharmacist’s prescription for cocaine
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse in the United States, cocaine was legal in 1885, when a Georgia pharmacist brewed Coca-Cola, which has become the world’s most famous, with cocaine, Business Insider reported.

At the time, pharmacist John Pemberton’s recipe for the drink included cocaine extracted from the coca plant, before it was later abandoned.
It is not clear exactly when Coca-Cola removed the drug from its products, although it is likely that it did so sometime after the company was purchased from the drink’s inventor, in the late 1880s.
