My father beat me with a belt for playing cricket that day. These are the childhood memories of the Indian pacer.

India is a team that has made a lot of leaps in pace bowling in recent times. Many young pacers joined the Indian team as part of the IPL. Delhi Capitals star Khalil Ahmed was the main one. Khalil Ahmed has played 11 ODIs and 14 Twenty20 matches for the Indian team so far. Khalil Ahmed has now come to the scene by sharing some of his childhood memories. Khalil Ahmed said in an interview yesterday that he was beaten with a belt by his father for playing cricket when he was young. Khalil says that his father punished him that day for not doing his duties properly.

“I have three older sisters. My father worked in a hospital. When he went to work, I was entrusted to buy milk and other things for home. But when I started going to the field to play cricket, it all started to fall apart. My mother once reminded my father about this. Then father asked where he was. His mother told his father that he was always on the field and never doing anything right in his work and studies. Hearing this, my father got angry and beat me with his belt. The scars of that beating were on my body.”- says Khalil Ahmed.

“During my childhood, my father’s wish was to make me a doctor. As my father was a hospital employee, my father tried to bring me up in that field as well. My father was very keen that I should not have to face any hardships in my life. But as I turned to cricket, my father started supporting me more. My father has often told me to play cricket. “My father told me to live off his pension for the rest of my life if I fail to excel in cricket,” adds Khalil Ahmed.

Khaleel Ahmed had a brilliant bowling performance for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022. Khalil Ahmed played 10 matches in the last IPL and took 16 wickets. But Khalil Ahmed missed the Ranji Trophy season due to injury. After that, Ahmed is gearing up for a big comeback in IPL 16.
