“My government continues to provide full support to Ukraine” –

King Charles III opened the first sitting of the new British Parliament and gave a speech to set out Labour Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s legislative programme. “My Government will continue to give its full support to Ukraine and its people and will commit to playing a leading role in providing Ukraine with a clear path to Nato membership. My Government will seek to reset relationships with our European partners and work to improve the UK’s trade and investment relationship with the European Union,” the British monarch said at the Palace of Westminster. “My ministers will seek a new security pact to strengthen cooperation on the mutual threats faced by the UK and the European Union. My Government will play its part in seeking to secure long-term peace and security in the Middle East. It is committed to a two-state solution with a safe and secure Israel, alongside a viable and sovereign Palestinian state,” he added.
