UFC President Dana White spoke about the reshuffle in the UFC 279 card, which occurred due to a failed weigh-in by Khamzat Chimaeva. He was supposed to meet in the main fight with Nate Diaz, but did not fit into the welterweight division by 3.5 kg.
Now the new main event has become a duel between Nate Diaz and Tony Ferguson. It will be played in a 5-round format, like the co-main bout between Chimaev and Kevin Holland.
At UFC 279, Ferguson was scheduled to fight Li Jingliang, while Holland was scheduled to fight Daniel Rodriguez. As a result, Jingliang will meet with Rodriguez.
