The Government has already made two attempts this week to get the article to be voted on and it has not been achieved.

Despite the pressure launched by President Gustavo Petro from the streets this Wednesday, the National Government failed in a new attempt to get the health reform voted in the Plenary of the Chamber.

The rarefied atmosphere left by the audios revealed in SEMANA, in which Former ambassador Armando Benedetti reveals that there would have been an irregular handling of money in Petro’s presidential campaign, which has contributed to Congress not wanting to go along with the government’s reforms.

This is the second time this week that an attempt has been made to discuss the initiative without progress being made. This Tuesday, for example, the session had to be canceled half an hour before its start, because there was not the political environment to hold the debate.

In fact, this Tuesday the Partido de la U, which has been key for the Government, issued a statement in which it asked that the discussion of these profound reforms be postponed given the tense political environment that exists, after the explosive audios of the Former Colombian Ambassador to Venezuela Armando Benedetti.

“From the bench of ‘la U’ we call on the National Government so that, given the haste and the political environment in which the debates are taking place in Congress, it stops along the way and postpones the discussion and voting of the social reforms until the next legislative period”, said this Tuesday the group led by Dilian Francisca Toro.

Likewise, the Conservative Party issued a communication in which it asks the Government deliver the explanations of the case to the authorities. In addition, the community has already announced that it will request the file of this reform, considering that it is harmful to the country.

The conservatives, since they were marginalized from the Government, have had a strong position of opposition to the health reform.

To this is added the annoyance that there is in a sector of the Liberal Party for the disclosure of the quotas that the congressmen of the community have in the National Savings Fund. The president of this entity, Gilberto Rondón, acknowledged in La W that he has made agreements with congressmen from the Liberal Party to deliver quotas in the entity and thus be able to carry out the reforms.

He said that since he is part of the Government, he has to contribute to the Government’s reforms moving forward. “That is my exercise because then what do I do in the Government”, he affirmed.

“I don’t know if these representatives have received those positions or not, I don’t know because I don’t have the account, it’s that it’s a lot of people, but what I do know is that they would have the right to that. It is that we are in a pluralistic and participatory democracy and in a pluralistic and participatory democracy, the one who wins the elections governs with his people, that is clear, ”said the director of the FNA.

Added to this is the fact that, in a letter, dozens of former ministers, academics and representatives from different unions in the health sector, ask President Gustavo Petro to withdraw the health reform that is being debated in the Congress of the Republic.

Among the signatories is the former Minister of Education of the Government Petro Alejandro Gaviria, but also other former ministers of past administrations such as Alberto Carrasquilla and Mauricio Cárdenas (who were finance ministers during the governments of former presidents Iván Duque and Juan Manuel Santos, respectively). In addition to political figures such as Noemí Sanín, who has been a presidential candidate several times.
