NNA – Strong Republic bloc member MP Fadi Karam affirmed that “yesterday’s meeting in Nejmeh Square, which included change deputies and other sovereign and independent representatives, was important, and this is the demand of the Lebanese Forces for unity among themselves for the good of the country,” noting that “these groups suffered After the parliamentary elections, there is fragmentation, a kind of loss, and a lack of agreement on a single programme.

He told Radio Free Lebanon: “Through our communication with them and our good relationship with them, we asked them to unify their approach, so that we can build together in one step aimed at saving the country, especially with regard to the fateful entitlements such as the election of a President of the Republic.”

He added: “The head of the Forces Party, Dr. Samir Geagea, called within the bloc’s meeting to unify parliamentary efforts,” calling for “the unity of the vision and plan, to stand behind one name within one specifications for a presidential candidate, and we hope that these meetings will continue for the good of the country.”

In response to a question, he answered: “It is not necessary for the forces to participate in similar meetings with opposition deputies, and this formula was resorted to by some because the group contains small and independent blocs. As for the forces, they have a complete and integrated bloc, which is the largest bloc within the House of Representatives.”

Regarding the words of the head of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, about the difference between the political views between him and Geagea, Karam clarified that “we have never said that we have an integrated and identical policy with the socialist, and there is always a differentiation between us,” stressing that “there is no longer room for the continuation of Compromises are with Hezbollah’s project in Lebanon, because it is a project that will eliminate the Lebanese entity.”

Karam indicated that “Jumblatt’s stances may have come as a result of his fear that the situation in the country will turn into a violent situation, which will make the situation difficult in the country, and it is a security attempt that may be good towards Hezbollah, but we do not agree with him.”

He stressed that “Hezbollah always takes advantage of the good intentions of some to persist and seize more and more the Lebanese situation, and there is no need to persist with the party’s policy.”
