“I don’t see Germany in good hands,” says the world art star from Leipzig, whose paintings have already been traded for around 1.3 million euros. “I have the feeling that things have never been as delicate as they are at the moment.” “I experience sleepless nights when I think of Germany,” said Rauch.

In view of the news situation, he has meanwhile become “very thin-skinned”, says the art star, who is apparently isolating himself more and more from the outside world: “My studio is that anti-daily news.” Rauch lives in Markkleeberg in the south of Leipzig, has his studio in the former cotton mill in the west of Leipzig.
He describes himself as conservative but apolitical. And apparently doesn’t have much to do with climate stickers and other activists. His message: “Come to your senses, stop your irrational actions!” The “pseudo-religious appearance of many protest actions” drives him very much. That’s why you shouldn’t approach him with “political correctness”. Rauch: “We are currently getting rid of ourselves as an industrial nation. We take ourselves off the net, say goodbye to the ranks of the people who should be taken seriously. I can only stand stunned by these events.”
Emigrate? “I can only paint here!”
Despite all his worries, he does not want to leave Germany and Leipzig. “I can only paint here,” says the artist. “Here I get the energy I need for my work.”
In an interview with the Schweizer Zeitung, the Leipzig native also criticized his East German compatriots. “They haven’t developed the repression energy of the West Germans, they don’t have the qualifications to form dynamic networks.”
