Netflix Lays Off UK Staff Including VP Anna Mallett

London Office Redundancies and Anna Mallett’s Exit

Netflix has trimmed 2% to 3% of its London-based workforce, cutting roughly a dozen or more jobs out of several hundred employees, Deadline reported. Anna Mallett, who served as Vice President of Production in the UK and EMEA, is among those who have left the company. Additional departures hit departments including PR and marketing.

Mallett spent just over five years at the streaming giant, overseeing production for television shows and movies across the UK and Europe, Middle East, and Africa. Her tenure coincided with a major creative run for Netflix EMEA, yielding breakout hits such as Baby Reindeer, Adolescence, and later seasons of Money Heist alongside its spin-off Berlin.

Before joining Netflix, Mallett built an extensive executive background in British broadcasting. She previously served as CEO of ITN, producing news programs for ITV, Channel 4, and Channel 5. Prior to that leadership role, she worked as Group COO and Managing Director of Production at BBC Studios. The Ankler first broke the news of her departure.

Global Restructuring and Leadership Swaps

The UK redundancies follow a broader corporate contraction disclosed a few weeks prior, when Netflix announced global cuts affecting roughly 1,000 roles, or 6% of its total staff base. Product, technology, legal, and human resources divisions absorbed the heaviest impacts from those reductions.

Several high-profile executives exited during the global sweep, including content chief Bela Bajaria and film head Dan Lin. Bajaria earned international recognition for her regional hub strategy, which decentralized commissioning. Peter Rice, a UK-born media executive, has stepped in to replace Bajaria.

These workforce adjustments arrive as the company navigates slowing subscriber growth, fluctuating viewership metrics, and downward pressure on its stock price.
