Netflix has officially ordered Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure, a live-action prequel series set in 1955 in Marion, Nevada. Announced on November 6, 2026, the project is scheduled to debut on the streaming platform in 2028, expanding the franchise following the conclusion of the main series.
An initial 40-second teaser released by Netflix features a bicycle near a restricted area and an explosion in the sky musicdaily, accompanied by the phrase Kémleljétek az eget!
IGN Hungary. The streaming giant confirmed the project on November 6, 2026, a date chosen for its significance to fans as the day Will Byers vanished in the fictional town of Hawkins (Globalhir).
The new series serves as the fourth narrative project within the universe (Globalhir). It follows the final season of the original show in late 2025 (Globalhir), the animated series Stranger Things: Tales from ’85, and the stage production Stranger Things: First Shadow.
Setting the Stage in 1955 Nevada
Moving away from the familiar Indiana backdrop of the main series, Other Worlds takes place in Marion, Nevada, in the year 1955 (Globalhir).
Chronologically, the plot is set before both the original series and the stage play The First Shadow, according to Blikk. That stage play explores the background of Henry Creel (Globalhir), also known as Vecna InStyle Magyarország. The story centers on events preceding Henry Creel’s encounter with the supernatural material that granted him his abilities (Globalhir). The narrative takes place even earlier than the stage production’s depiction of Henry Creel’s troubled history in 1959.
Production on the series is scheduled to take place in New Mexico (Globalhir). Casting remains underway Liner.
Duffer Brothers and Kate Trefry Lead Production Team
The series is co-created by franchise architects Matt and Ross Duffer alongside Kate Trefry, who worked as a writer on the original series and authored the stage production (Globalhir). Trefry serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer (Globalhir).
Joe Wright directs the first three episodes and acts as an executive producer (Globalhir). Shawn Levy also participates as an executive producer through 21 Laps. Netflix expressed pride in continuing to build this world with the Duffers, Kate, Shawn Levy, and Joe Wright.
