During the Capcom Showcase, Capcom shared details of the Resident Evil 4 remake’s story to help explain the game’s place in the franchise. As with past Resident Evil remakes, the goal is to keep what made the original special while also adding some new twists.
Resident Evil 4 takes place approximately six years following the events in Raccoon City from Resident Evil 2 and 3. Due to his experience in Raccoon City, Leon Kennedy is sent to Europe on direct orders from the President of the United States to rescue the politician’s daughter. The creators also noted that Leon is more fearless this time around due to his past experiences.
While in a small European village, Leon meets a ganado. These crazed people will attack in large groups, which can be difficult to survive once morest. The concept the developers want to convey with these enemies is “horror of people ruled by madness”, for which they completely redo the ganado.
It also became known that the traditional camera over the shoulder will return in the remake of Resident Evil 4.
Resident Evil 4 Remake will release on March 23, 2023 for Xbox Series X|S, PS5 or PC on Steam.
