New Leadership and Coalition Formed in Nymburk Town Hall

Jan Ritter of the Starostové s Nymburskými demokraty is set to become the next mayor of Nymburk, leading a newly formed four-party coalition that commands a razor-thin majority of 11 votes in the 21-member municipal assembly, Nymburský deník reported.

The coalition agreement brings together a diverse alliance following local political realignments. Alongside Ritter’s grouping, the new town hall leadership includes the Rebelky pro Váš Nymburk and TOP 20 – město pro život, with an additional single mandate provided by ANO 2011, according to reporting by Nymburský deník.

Power Shift at the Town Hall and the New Executive Team

Under the coalition deal, executive power on the Nymburk municipal council will be shared among key figures from the allied movements. Stanislava Tichá of Rebelky pro Váš Nymburk will step into the role of deputy mayor, alongside František Vlasák representing TOP 20 – město pro život, as detailed by Nymburský deník. The broader municipal council board will incorporate Pavel Fojtík of STAN + ND, Adriena Gabrielová from ANO 2011, Markéta Tomčíková representing RvN, and Marek Velechovský of TOP 20.

Designated mayor Jan Ritter signaled an immediate, hands-on approach to his new administrative duties. “Půjdu se pozdravit s úředníky radnice,” Ritter told Nymburský deník regarding his first official steps. The administration also plans to establish a dedicated health committee, while conventional parliamentary courtesy will see the oversight committee handed over to the opposition.

The Exclusion of SEN pro Nymburk and the Fall of the Incumbent Mayor

Hnutí SEN pro Nymburk, led by Nela Kvačková, secured three mandates in the election but was explicitly excluded from the governing alliance, Zdravotnický deník reported. Rebelky pro Váš Nymburk drew a hard line against partnering with Kvačková, citing deep differences in political conduct.

“I my kritizujeme současné vedení města, ale zakládáme si na ověřených faktech, doložených tvrzeních a věcné kritice. Osobní útoky, nálepkování a veřejné spekulace bez důkazů jsou pro nás nepřijatelné,” Stanislava Tichá explained to Zdravotnický deník.

As a result, a potent bloc enters opposition benches: the election-winning movement Nymburk s klidem led by outgoing mayor Tomáš Mach (which holds six mandates), Kvačková’s SEN pro Nymburk (three mandates), and a single mandate held by outgoing deputy mayor Zdeněk Vocásek representing ODS, noted Nymburský deník. Mach had previously dismissed Kvačková from her role as head of the municipal hospital in December 2024—a move later ruled unauthorized by the Municipal Court in Prague, as Zdravotnický deník pointed out.

Reflecting on the shift in power that bars Mach from continuing in office, Kvačková framed the outcome as a significant achievement. “To nejdůležitější se podle mě podařilo. Skočila éra toho, čemu já říkám nymburská chobotnice v čele se starostou Machem. A to považuji za zásadní změnu,” she told Zdravotnický deník.

Programmatic Priorities and the Tightly Balanced Assembly

With the executive structure settled by a narrow 11-to-10 margin against the opposition, the incoming administration faces the challenge of governing without room for defections. Detailed programmatic goals and policy specifics remain under discussion, though coalition leaders have broadly underscored responsible financial management as a foundational priority for the town, according to Nymburský deník.
