Nick de Vries selects “21” for F1 career fixed car number[F1-Gate.com]

Nick de Vries has chosen “21” as the fixed car number to use in his F1 career starting in 2023 with Scuderia AlphaTauri.

Nick de Vries, who was a reserve driver for Mercedes F1, participated from Williams as a substitute for Alexander Albon, who suffered from appendicitis at the F1 Italian Grand Prix, and showed a performance of ninth place.

Red Bull has decided to appoint Nick de Vries as AlphaTauri driver for 2023 to replace Pierre Gasly, who wanted to transfer to the Alpine F1 team.

Since 2014 all drivers will have to choose a race number to use throughout their F1 career. Nick de Vries chose to run car number 21.

Esteban Gutierrez (Haas F1 Team) was the last No. 21 to race in 2016. A driver’s number is protected for two years from the last F1 race.

The number 21 is no unknown number for Nick de Vries. He is running the F1 machine for the first time in Abu Dhabi for the Mercedes F1 team in 2020 and 2021 with the number 21 car. By the way, at the F1 Italian GP at Williams, he was number 45, and at this year’s Alpha Tauri Abu Dhabi test, he was number 41.

Teammate Yuki Tsunoda is wearing number 22, and AlphaTauri F1 will run two cars with the number one difference.
