At the wheel of his modest Haas, the German took second place in Q3. Seconds after he crossed the timing line, the red flag was raised due to the accident ofOscar Piastri.

And it is this moment of qualifying that could cost Hulkenberg dearly. Indeed, the #27 was summoned to the marshals for a possible violation of the red flag procedure, more precisely “Article 37.6 a) of the Formula 1 Sporting Regulations”. According to a document published by the FIA, Hülkenberg did not respect “the minimum time set by the FIA ​​ECU” to return to the stand.

The driver, accompanied by a representative of the Haas team, is expected at the stewards at 6:40 p.m. in Montreal, 12:40 a.m. in France.

Before the announcement of his summons to the commissioners, Hülkenberg had indicated regarding his qualifications: “It was crazy qualifying. It was crazy. You know, changing conditions are tricky, especially here with the walls, it’s so close out of corners, and the speed is high. We went from wet to dry and then back to wet. You know, you have to readapt all the time. But it was fun. It was good. Obviously it’s a bit unexpected, but I’m very happy and proud. The team has did a great job. Everything went without a hitch. I’m super happy.”

And the Haas driver was looking forward to the race: “The first line, it’s nice, it makes me very happy. We will see how long we manage to keep it and what the conditions will be tomorrow. Everything suggests that it will be very different: a dry race. It’s not going to be the same story at all. I just want to take to the track and race as hard as I can and hopefully we get a good result.” Will he be able to take advantage of this first line?
