Nissin International Transport to Open First Kentucky Distribution Center in Franklin County

Gov. Andy Beshear announced on Oct. 29, 2026, that Nissin International Transport U.S.A. will invest $14.3 million to establish its first Kentucky operations by opening a new distribution center in Franklin County.

The facility will be situated in Franklin County Industrial Park 3, located off U.S. Highway 60 and Duncan Road. According to state officials, the operation will primarily provide warehousing, depot storage, unpacking, assembly support, and value-added logistics services for automotive parts and materials to support Toyota-affiliated suppliers in the region.

Nissin International Transport U.S.A., Inc. operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Tokyo-based Nissin Corporation, which began in 1938 as a domestic in-harbor transport company. The corporate group expanded into the United States in 1973 and currently maintains a global network spanning more than 400 locations and 200 warehouses across 23 countries, employing over 2,000 workers.

Approving Incentive Agreement for Job Creation

To support the project, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved a 10-year incentive agreement with the company under the Kentucky Business Investment program in September. This performance-based agreement offers up to $500,000 in tax incentives tied to the $14.3 million capital investment and the creation and maintenance of the 30 Kentucky-resident jobs over a decade.

Local and state leaders emphasized the alignment between the community’s workforce and the incoming transport base. Franklin County Judge/Executive Michael Mueller noted the area’s history of supporting the automotive sector, while Frankfort Mayor Layne Wilkerson highlighted the community’s experienced workforce. Develop Frankfort Executive Director Penny Peavler pointed out that the global logistics firm selected the county for its first state footprint despite having options across more than two dozen countries.

The announcement builds upon a broader period of economic growth in the commonwealth. Governor Beshear’s administration has reported nearly 1,400 private-sector new-location and expansion projects totaling over $54 billion in announced investments since taking office, generating more than 72,000 jobs. Major automotive and battery sector commitments during this span include a Ford Motor Co. project in Louisville, Shelbyville Battery Manufacturing in Shelby County, and a Toyota investment in Scott County.

Establishing Logistics Base to Scale Capabilities

The new distribution center in Franklin County Industrial Park 3 will establish a permanent logistics base for Nissin in the region, allowing the firm to scale its automotive logistics capabilities in response to rising demand from regional suppliers.
