Investing.com – Data released on Friday (5th) showed that non-farm payrolls were booming, with new employment, average hourly wage growth, and the unemployment rate all beating expectations.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there was an unexpected increase of 216,000, while the market had expected an increase of only 170,000. At the same time, the number of new jobs created in November was revised down to 173,000 from 199,000.
Remaining at 3.7%, the market had expected it to rise to 3.8%.
More importantly, accelerating wage growth may prevent inflation from cooling further. It rose to 4.1% from 4.0% in November, while the market had expected it to fall to 3.9%; it remained at 0.4%, which was also higher than the market expectation of 0.3%.
After the data was released, it jumped, and the increase expanded to 0.5%, maintaining a moderate increase.
The benchmark U.S. bond yield rose further, reaching a high of 4.104%.
The price of gold plunged, and the decline expanded, with the decline once approaching 1%, falling below $2,030. It also fell by about $15, falling below $2,040.
U.S. stock index futures fell, with Dow futures down about 150 points and the penny stock index down more than 1.4%.
