Seoul: North Korea launches first nuclear-armed submarine. This move is aimed at launching nuclear weapons from under the sea. The nuclear submarine will operate near the Korean Peninsula and off the coast of Japan.
The nuclear submarine is named Hero Kim Kun Ok. Submarine No. 841 has been named after Kim Kun, a North Korean naval officer and historical figure, by the North Korean ruler.
Kim Jong Un attended the submarine launching ceremony. Experts say that the new submarine is a modification of the submarine that Kim observed in 2019. Critics say that it is a Soviet-era Romeo-class submarine. The nuclear submarine was launched on Wednesday.
