North of North Season 2 Brings More Inuit Joy and Comedy to Netflix

Siaja returns to screens as Chronique arctique launches its second season, bringing high-energy Arctic comedy back to Netflix.

The eight-episode sophomore run of the series, known in English as North of North, dropped on Thursday, November 5, 2025, 20 Minutes reported. Creators Stacey Aglok MacDonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril pick up the story of a 26-year-old mother in Ice Cove, Nunavut, navigating messy family dynamics and small-town chaos.

Season 2 Features Eight Episodes on Netflix

  • Season 2 arrived on Netflix on November 5, 2025, featuring eight episodes of roughly thirty minutes each.
  • Anna Lambe reprises her starring role as Siaja, joined by Maika Harper and Mary Lynn Rajskub.
  • The soundtrack blends modern indie tracks with Inuktitut covers, including Elisapie’s version of The Cranberries’ Dreams.

Ice Cove Community Chaos

Life in the fictional Arctic town of Ice Cove rarely moves in a straight line for its residents. Siaja splits from her daughter’s father and tries to steer her own path, managing an absentee father and a distant mother with uneven results. Material hardships in the isolated community frequently trigger comic disasters, from undrinkable tap water to missed beer deliveries for local birthdays.

Work at the community centre pits Siaja against Helen, a white manager played by Mary Lynn Rajskub. Alethea Arnaquq-Baril noted to the Canadian outlet Exclaim! that the dynamic stems from real-life questions about authority in Inuit towns. Anna Lambe anchors the comedy through physical energy and chaotic decision-making.

When the young woman decides to energize local life, nothing goes entirely according to plan. Fans of the sitcom Parks and Recreation will find something of Leslie Knope in this heroine who desperately wants to improve the daily lives of her neighbors, sometimes against their will.

Music and Inuktitut Language Drive the Series

The series foregrounds contemporary Inuit life without sidelining the community’s persistent challenges. Anna Lambe told Exclaim! that she prioritizes showing “Inuit joy” over trauma narratives. Filming took place partly in Iqaluit, the capital of Nunavut, incorporating the Inuktitut language alongside English dialogue.

Music drives the emotional tone of the episodes. Florence + The Machine opens the second season with Free, while artist Elisapie performs Sinnatuumakka, her Inuktitut rendition of Dreams by The Cranberries. The artist originally from Nunavik, whose album Inuktitut previously adapted Pink Floyd, Metallica, and Cyndi Lauper, makes an appearance in season 2. Previous episodes featured Riit covering Dua Lipa’s Levitating in Inuktitut.
