Nubank launched a new security portal this week and, as part of the initiative, the fintech purchased several fake addresses used by scammers and is redirecting access to its official page.

The launch of the portal is part of the “#SeemButNotNubank” campaign, and in addition to purchasing these domains, there is also educational content to make customers aware of the most common tactics among scammers.

Among the URLs purchased are, for example, nubankbrasil, nubank, nubanks and wwwnubank.

Commenting on the fintech’s action, Juliana Roschel, marketing director at Nubank, highlighted that the main objective is to alert customers about the most common scams.

We want to go beyond warning and raising people’s awareness about this criminal practice and move towards more concrete action. Therefore, we acquired internet domains that appear to be from Nubank, but are not, and that could be used maliciously, and redirected them to a portal that will be permanently available and will contain information and tips to protect against fraud and scams.

Fabiola Marchiori, vice president of Engineering and general manager of Fraud Prevention at Nubank, highlighted that tactics that use social engineering are becoming increasingly common among criminals.

Keeping people well informed about this practice is very important because, most of the time, there is unintentional participation by the victims themselves in making the scam happen.

In addition to scams that use websites that pretend to be bank officials, Nubank also warns of the famous “pix scam”. In this modality, criminals use a virus to redirect transfers to their accounts.
