number of Iraqi pilgrims coming to Saudi Arabia increased

The authorities have increased the number of Iraqi pilgrims arriving in Saudi Arabia through the northern border. It is estimated that more than 100,000 Iraqi citizens have reached the country by road since the start of the Umrah season this year.
More than 100,000 pilgrims have reached Saudi Arabia and performed Umrah through Jadidat Arar check point by land through the northern border, the customs authority said.

The border was closed for 30 years due to the internal conflicts in Iraq. It was decided to open the border including commercial purposes in November 2020. Due to Covid, the movement of pilgrims was less. But for the first time this season, so many pilgrims are arriving by land from Iraq, officials said.

Pilgrims reach Saudi via Arar in buses and private vehicles. Deedat Check Point has the best customs and immigration facilities. Basic development projects and facilities for prayers have been prepared for the pilgrims.
