STUDENTS at Nusa Putra University who are studying real work (KKN) in Karangpapak Village, Cisolok District, Sukabumi Regency, created a rain water harvesting system (RWHS). This innovation processes rainwater into clean water.

The person in charge of the RWHS project, Riyanto, admitted that the innovation emerged accidentally. At that time the students who were doing KKN were gathered at the command post.

“It was raining at that time. We then discussed the condition of irrigation water which often becomes cloudy when it rains. If only rainwater could be used, it would certainly help the community a lot. This then became a topic of conversation between us, why don’t we make an innovative tool by utilizing “rainwater can be processed into clean water,” said Riyanto, Sunday (23/4).

The students then applied this idea by making experiments. Various methods were used until finally they found the formulation. “This Rain Water Harvesting System or RWHS was created,” he explained.

In general, the project for making this innovative tool is to collect rainwater. Then, after going through various processes, the rainwater becomes clean water.

In the initial stage, the RWHS equipment was installed in the Assanusi prayer room in Marinjung Village, Karangpapak Village, Cisolok District. On Monday (18/3) last week, the use of this tool was made official.

“We installed it in the prayer room because many people need clean water for ablution. In principle, this RWHS not only provides access to clean water, but can help with the problem of dirty water when it rains,” he concluded.

Chairman of the Nusa Putra University KKN Group, Rip’an Mukti, emphasized this
The creation of RWHS is a form of commitment from students to support it
village development and progress. This project does not just provide a concrete solution to the problem of access to clean water in the region.

“But this is part of a joint effort to build a healthy village community
better,” said Rip’an.

The Head of Karangpapak Village, Agus Supriatna, appreciated the innovation
carried out by KKN students from Nusa Putra University because they succeeded in initiating the processing of rainwater into clean water. This tool is a solution to get access to clean water for its residents.

“This is an alternative solution for the community. Of course there are benefits from this project in our area,” he explained.

Cisolok Subdistrict Head Jaenal Abidin said he was proud of the creativity and innovation carried out by the students. KKN activities are truly used to provide benefits to the community.

“This is a real example of positive collaboration between universities and the community,” he concluded.
