We announced the good news in our edition of June 30: the famous October Fair, better known as the “Foire à Liège”, will take place in 2023, despite a tram construction site which seems to paralyze the entire boulevard d ‘Avroy, usual reception site of the fairground.

Thus, following two years marked by the health crisis (cancellation or adaptation of the rules in force in 2020 and 2021), the 2022 edition was disrupted by the tram construction site… The good news of 2023, despite the influence Even more important consequence of the tram work on the boulevards is that the adaptations put in place last year will be able to continue this year.

At the end of July, the official date of the 2023 edition of the event was also unveiled: the October Fair will take place from Saturday September 30 to Sunday November 12, i.e. for six full weeks, under the same conditions as the last year.

2 million visitors

As a reminder, it was councilor Benoît Bouchat (Les Engagés) who was worried regarding the organization of the 2023 fair, questioning the Council of the Communal College. Willy Demeyer, mayor of Liège, was reassuring, already guaranteeing at the end of June that the event, which brings together more than two million visitors each year, would take place.

Indeed, the Fairs and Markets department has been in contact with Tram’Ardent for several months now in order to anticipate the progress of the events for which it is responsible, mainly the Batte and the October Fair.

Precisely, in the plan of the fair presented at the beginning of June, we already noted that no attraction was removed… The main difference last year was in the fact that the fair was slightly moved towards the boulevard Blonden, so as not to encroach on the tram site. Significant changes will also be necessary this year but the traditional 170 fairground trades will take place over more than a kilometer, between the Avroy-Sauvenière-St-Gilles crossroads and rue des Guillemins.
