Controls by the financial police are good and important, but still need to be significantly expanded

Vienna (OTS) The figures presented today by the financial police “show a fatal picture of disregard for the legal requirements in the fight against wage and social dumping,” says Alexander Prischl, head of the department for labor market and education policy in the ÖGB. “Employment takes place through the employer and the financial police’s record shows clearly how unscrupulous companies exploit people and deprive them of fair wages and social benefits,” says the trade unionist.

The ÖGB expert welcomes the controls, but “of course they could be expanded further. The controls must take place much more regularly, because companies that believe they don’t have to follow any rules will massively damage Austria as a place to work and do business”.

Prischl also misses the outcry from the economy in view of the figures from the financial police: “It’s about wage and social dumping and about actively fighting both. Nobody here can afford to remain silent and say nothing. In addition, it must be ensured that the employees receive the withheld payment claims.”
