Decades old, a three-story building collapsed in the pouring rains the day before yesterday. Five dead are counted.
An old solid three-story house collapsed on itself in Behoririka. The death toll is five dead. An infant was miraculously rescued from death. The tragedy occurred around 4 a.m. while the neighborhood was still asleep. Awakened by a dull noise that shook the surroundings, the residents were petrified when they saw the construction settle at ground level. Three families totaling a dozen people lived in the old building. On the second floor, a sexagenarian, owner of the premises, perished under the rubble. His two children for their part escaped death in extremis after being narrowly extricated from the ruins of their home. These survivors have a baby just a few months old who was miraculously saved. The people who came to the rescue formed a real human chain to bring him to safety through the field of ruins. In the second family, two sisters in their twenties died there. Their parents, on the other hand, escaped the worst.

In the third focus, all the family members were nearly decimated. The mother was about to attend morning mass when everything collapsed around her. While she managed to get out of the house just in time, her husband, son and daughter, still in bed, were surprised. While the girl was able to be extracted by the firefighters after a long intervention, her father and brother were not so lucky. With a crushed leg, she was able to be freed from the rubble around 11 a.m. after an ordeal that lasted seven long hours. The house that collapsed had already shown signs of weakness before the unthinkable happened. Worried residents had already reported the authorities. After a wait-and-see attitude, the irreparable happened during the heavy rains that fell overnight from Thursday to Friday. The Analamanga region, for its part, claims to have already ordered the demolition of the building, but the owners had lodged an objection with the court. In addition to the victims, a vehicle was buried under the rubble.
