On 3,000 m2, D’Ieteren will sell … bicycles: “Our business is mobility, not just the import of cars”

A first store of more than 3,000 m2 with an indoor test track will open its doors in rue du Mail (Ixelles) in the spring.

Essentially known as an importer in Belgium of the Volkswagen and Audi brands, but also Lamborghini, Porsche and Bugatti, the D’Ieteren group is about to take a rather unexpected turn: while the group will continue to import cars, it will now focus part of its mobility policy on bicycles. It must be said that, since the first confinement, the consumption of two-wheelers has literally exploded. “D’Ieteren is first and foremost a player in mobilityconfides Karl Lechat, the director. Our company is 215 years old and we have been importing cars for ‘only’ 100 years. This is the tip of the iceberg. D’Ieteren is also car sharing (NdlR : Poppy), mobility design offices, EDI charging stations… Mobility is part of D’Ieteren’s DNA. And we want to develop it in all its forms.”
