One in 4 parents suffers from parental stress: this is how the demographic winter continues

In the long demographic winter that our country is experiencing, where according to the latest Istat data, newborns in 2023 have fallen below the critical threshold of 400 thousand per year, many contextual factors also weigh, both socioeconomic and cultural. . This is highlighted by the Observatory on the challenges and difficulties of having children in our country, promoted by the Fater group (50/50 joint venture between Angelini Industries and Procter & Gamble), in collaboration with the Eumetra research institute.

The research project listened to experts with different skills, from developmental psychologists, to educators, pedagogists, paediatricians, gynecologists, social workers, as well as a sample of 3 thousand expectant parents, with children aged from 0 to 6 years old and potential parents.

The birth of the research project

Parental welfare has seen a marked evolution in recent years. At Fater, a project called “People First” was launched, which put «people at the center of our doing business – explains Antonio Fazzari, General Manager of Fater -. To achieve this ambition, we always try to start by listening to our colleagues, our customers and the millions of families we reach every day with our brands. For this reason we have started a research project, with the aim of knowing even more closely the daily challenges that millions of parents face in our country and being concretely close to them.” In particular through the Pampers brand, Fater is imagining «creating a village to connect parents and their children with experts, third sector associations and the local community. An ambitious project that already lives within the Coccole Pampers App, offering a free online psychological support service, thanks to the collaboration with the Heart4Children Association, and lots of content created by experts on the topics of greatest interest to families.”

But let’s see what emerges from the Observatory’s research.
