opening Tuesday of a large vaccination center in Ile-de-France, 1,700 cases recorded in France

Health Minister François Braun announced Monday, July 25 on BFM-TV the opening, on Tuesday, of a large capacity vaccination center against monkeypox in Ile-de-France. At the same time, he said an order allowing all medical students to be vaccinated against monkeypox will be issued on Tuesday, adding:

“We have the doses, now we need the arms to vaccinate”

About 1,700 people are currently infected in France with monkeypox, he detailed, still on BFM-TV. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared on Sunday that the current fast-spreading outbreak of monkeypox constitutes a global public health emergency.

Inter-LGBT criticizes the government’s “lack of preparation”

Earlier in the day, the Inter-LGBT association federation protested against “the government’s inaction, lack of preparation and transparency” French, in a press release released Monday July 25. She deplores in particular the “difficulty making an appointment” for vaccination and “delivery of insufficient doses”.

“This epidemic affects the vast majority [plus de 9 cas sur 10] men having sex with men [HSH]. For some of us, the news brought back the trauma of the AIDS years”observes the LGBT rights organization.

The lesbian, gay, bi and trans association, which brings together some sixty LGBT associations, therefore asks “increased prevention, factual and non-judgmental, with exposed people, while too much delay was taken by reluctance, letting the epidemic run”.

In her press release, she “recalls the right of everyone to live their sexuality fully with the number of partners they want, while taking into account the reality of the epidemic” et request “the lifting of the defense secrecy on 3ᵉ generation smallpox vaccines and the volume of orders and made available in vaccination centers nationwide”.

Inter-LGBT notes in particular “by many lifts the difficulties in making an appointment” to get vaccinated, regretting “deliveries of insufficient doses of vaccine, disorganized supply circuits, insufficient vaccination sites, slots unavailable on Doctolib”.

The High Authority for Health in favor of reimbursement of tests

For its part, the City of Paris has demanded “emergency measures” government to get more doses and personnel vaccinating against monkeypox. The 30,000 doses of vaccine destocked announced on Friday by the Ministry of Health are “completely insufficient[es] »estimates health assistant (EELV) Anne Souyris, for whom it would take ten times more [de doses] to vaccinate preventively – twice – all people at risk in Ile-de-France.

On Monday, the High Authority for Health (HAS) declared itself in favor of the reimbursement by Medicare of tests, in particular PCR, for the detection of the monkeypox virus, specifying that they should only intervene“in case of persistent doubt after clinical examination”.

The government announced on July 8 the extension of vaccination to “men who have sex with men and trans people reporting multiple sex partners”to “persons in prostitution” and to “professionals in places of sexual consumption”.
