ÖVP presents candidates for EU elections on Monday

The ÖVP will present its candidates for the European elections on Monday. So far, only Reinhold Lopatka has been confirmed as the first on the list. Party leader Karl Nehammer will now also present the other 41 candidates at the Political Academy. This must first be approved by the board of directors (via a circular resolution).

It can be assumed that second place will go to a woman. The current head of delegation, Angelika Winzig, is a candidate for this. Tyrolean Sophia Kircher also has ambitions for a mandate. The Lower Austrians Alexander Bernhuber and Lukas Mandl have a chance of remaining in parliament. Othmar Karas and Christian Sagartz, however, are no longer on the candidate list.

Secretary General Christian Stocker promises a “broad and diverse” team. The aim is to ensure that Austria continues to have the strongest possible voice in Europe.
