Parents’ committees in private schools: to cancel the intermediate certificate this year

In a statement, the Union of Parents’ Committees in Private Schools called for the cancellation of the intermediate certificate for this year, and the necessity of separating the official exams between the secondary certificate and the intermediate certificate, and considered that “the justifications for canceling the intermediate certificate this turbulent and exceptional year are more important than the arguments for maintaining it. It takes place in the school and takes care of all subjects. In addition, the children’s health, physical and psychological safety is the basis, and they should not be pressured more with all the problems they are experiencing.”

The Union hoped to “begin to implement the new curriculum that the Ministry of Education is working on and to look at this file with a scientific and constructive eye, away from political rivalries with destructive effects, especially since the current curriculum adopted since 1997 has become far from reality and what our children study in geography and national education does not apply with the reality of Lebanon and our country.” We are ashamed of our children and we can never justify.”

He concluded by calling on the caretaker education minister, Abbas Al-Halabi, to “issue a quick decision to cancel the intermediate certificate exams and to be satisfied with school grades for this year.”
