As a result of a traffic accident on the southern motorway near Velden, a 56-year-old from Villach died on Tuesday night. His wife (56) and two occupants of a following car were injured. The driver had skidded with the car and crashed into the guardrail. The following car was no longer able to stop or avoid it in time and collided head-on with the accident car.
The 56-year-old passenger was thrown from the vehicle and fell on the road. He and his wife were taken to the Klagenfurt Clinic by the ambulance service, where the man from Villach succumbed to his serious injuries.
The two women in the following car – a 25-year-old from the St. Veit / Glan district and a 26-year-old passenger – were also brought to the UKH Klagenfurt with injuries. The A2 was closed to all traffic while the accident was being investigated.
