A man indicating to be one passengers of Pierre Palmade’s car during in the collision Friday with another vehicle was placed in police custody in the Somme, we learned on Tuesday from sources close to the investigation, confirming information from BFMTV.

This 47-year-old man was taken into custody by the gendarmes in Montdidier, said one of these sources. He was “alcoholic” and his statements remain “to be confirmed”, added this source.

Indeed, the man in police custody – a homeless person, according to “Le Parisien” – does not correspond to the descriptions provided by various witnesses. The two passengers of Pierre Palmade would be around 20 years old. So there is a big doubt.

According to another source, it was the man himself who called the gendarmerie on the night of Monday to Tuesday, saying he was present in the vehicle during the accident. A gendarmerie patrol then came to arrest him on the public road where he was.

“He has not yet been heard, given his condition, and has refused to submit to drug screening tests,” one of these sources told AFP on Tuesday morning.

Monday evening, on BFMTV, Camille Chaize, spokesperson for the Ministry of the Interior, said: “We have all the elements that allow us to go back to people on the run”.
