Patents registered by Apple are possible indicators of what the company is planning for the future. As much as it is far from any guarantee, including the possibility that the industrial property has only internal use, it is possible that one day these creations become products or part of the company’s existing devices.
According to Patently Applethe company filed a patent that, if adopted one day, will completely change the relationship between Apple Watch and yours bracelets. According to records, the watch could identify and differentiate one bracelet from another, which would have a series of applications, such as configuring automations.
In other words, when fitting a specific bracelet to the Watch, the device would be able to identify the model and, from there, activate a specific configuration. The options are many: a specific watch face, specific apps or even starting a particular exercise — which also demonstrates the potential of the idea in the health field.
This identification of each bracelet could even be done by means of an element in each accessory, which could be positioned towards the back of the watch. With this, the device would identify the bracelet through the wavelength of light reflected from that element. This component responsible for emitting the light could also be used for other purposes, such as measurements related to blood, for example.
Furthermore, as highlighted by AppleInsider, smart bracelets would also make it possible to collect data on how much time you spend with each bracelet, for example. It would also be possible to relate the use of each accessory to other elements, such as location and activities performed.
This, however, is not the first time that Apple has filed a patent of this type. In March, the company introduced another solution that used NFC chips.Near field communicationor near-field communication.”>1 to work and also had a series of possible applications.

another patent registered by Apple deals with cases for iPhones that would communicate with the device through technologies such as NFC. Thus, accessories would have the ability to show information such as battery level – either in numbers or in a progress bar, as in iOS – and reminders.
The patent also shows some other illustrations and not so related information. It shows, for example, an iPhone being placed in a device that resembles a headset, as well as a sketch of a device that resembles the never-released AirPower, with this smart cover showing the battery levels of all devices.
As with the iOS widget, the proprietary accessory would be able to display the battery levels of other connected devices, such as AirPods. The circuit inside the cover would be able to read and write, in addition to communicating with the iPhone after a defined validation procedure.
Interestingly, not only would the iPhone send information to the case, but the accessory would also send data. In this way, in the same way as the patented wristbands, the covers could make the smartphone adopt specific settings and other automations when placed on the device.
