For another three days, on March 29, 30 and 31, at the “Agora” theater in Patras, the theater group of the Cultural Center of OTE Employees of Patras – Achaia will stage the comedy “The Smart Bird” by Georges Fedot (arrangement – adaptation by Vangelis Oikonomou ), directed by Ilias Anastasopoulos.
It is a farcical comedy, a play full of dead ends, love affairs, philandering, complexities and many, many debaucheries that provide plenty of laughs.
The story revolves around an illegal extramarital affair that backfires on the “innocent” Vatlen, who becomes entangled in the web of a crazy Spanish woman.

Where could an adultery in London lead? Which of your friends can cover your actions the same way your mom would cover you in bed? What secrets are there behind closed doors? Is the bed the center of the earth and all around? Doors! Doors that open and close Doors that reveal Doors that each time they open bring a new surprise Doors that seem to lead to romantic paradises, but rather lead to comic-tragic situations.
As the show’s director Elias Anastasopoulos notes, it is “a comedy with would-be passionate, unrestrained lovers, husbands who cheat on their wives, who, although honest, are flattered when they flirt with them, give courage to the would-be lovers in order to “pig” and get their men back on track. All this through a text with a lot of humor.”
But, as we often say, through humor we say the most serious things. And the same thing happens in “Smart Bird”. Specifically, as Mr. Anastasopoulos notes: “Behind the seemingly light text, on a second reading, we see the timeless problems between androgynous, infidelity, superiority, mutual respect, comfort and many other smaller or larger issues that employ daily. All this through plenty of laughter.”
