Patras: What caterers are asking for the Carnival – 2024-03-06 17:08:15

Patras is now moving in the rhythm of Carnival, as the day before yesterday the opening took place in Georgiou Square, which “warmed up” all the friends and gave a first taste of what we expect in the next two months.

Traditionally, this period is one of the best for the catering industry, which is very busy all the time with the dances organized by various clubs and associations, culminating in the two-day parades of the Patrinos Carnival, which this year “falls” on 16-17 Of March.

“Peloponnisos” talked to three entrepreneurs in the catering industry and asked them to comment on what they don’t like, but also to submit their suggestions on how to improve the organization of the Carnival.

The questions asked were the following:

1. What would you change at a practical organizational level to make the Carnival better and more profitable?
2. Is there something that bothers you and that you consider to be a problem?
3. Your prediction for this year’s Carnival?

The owner of the café-restaurant, in the center, Yiannis Karpis stated:
1. “If I could, I would change the phenomenon of not having outdoor speakers on the street, as is often the case and creates festival conditions.”

2. “Such a large institution could have lasted longer and not just a weekend. Also, the advertising of the Carnival in other cities of Greece is absent.”

3. I estimate that it will have a lot of traffic from the first messages we receive and the weather conditions will play a very important role.”

The owner of the cafe in Georgiou Square for many years, Thanos Tseris, pointed out:

1. “I would close the centers so that cars do not move during those two days. Also, I would find places to park the cars and even guard them for a fee, so that revenue would be generated for the municipal authority.”

2.«I would prohibit the sale of black bay and various drinks by peddlers, whose quality is of dubious value. Many times young people drink and the image of the city is spoiled. I would like there to be more policing on those days and the toilets on the square open. Georgiou”.

3. “If we have the weather as an ally, I believe it will be a disaster.”

The owner of a nightclub on Agios Andreou Street, Yiannis Papagiannopoulosunderlined:

1.«More events in the center of the city, in Georgiou Square and around. He wants more advertising, not just locally. I propose, in collaboration with the Trade Association, that the shops on those two days be open until 12 at night, as is the case in tourist areas.”

2. “It bothers me that there is not a lot of policing and toilets in various parts of the city. Not having speakers on the streets is not right for the industry professionals who spend so much money.

3. “I think it will be much better than other years, because in general I understand that people want to go out to have fun.”
