picture-in-picture is finally available on iPhone

WhatsApp finally launches picture-in-picture for video calls on iPhone. It is therefore no longer a question of leaving Whatsapp in order to be able to carry out other tasks. An update that makes many users happy. Indeed, many platform users have been asking for this option for a while. The conversation will therefore no longer be interrupted when they want to access another application.

The popular messaging platform already announced this novelty last December. It was first made available to WhatsApp Beta users. Other options will also be rolled out in the coming weeks.

The video call continues through a floating window

Picture in picture (PiP) feature for video calls on WhatsApp for iPhone is rolling out with the updated version 23.3.77. The latter will be downloadable for free on the App Store and made available to all users worldwide. All they need is an iPhone running iOS 12.0 or later.

This latest picture-in-picture update gives users the ability to multitask, while continuing to converse with other people through a small floating window. The messaging platform’s picture-in-picture option works exactly the same as other features like Apple’s FaceTime.

Even more features

According to the release notes issued by Meta, this latest update to WhatsApp version 23.3.77 also comes with some other handy improvements. It will soon be possible to add captions when sending documents. Longer group topics and their descriptions will now also be supported. Users of the messaging platform will also be able to create custom avatars and then use them as stickers or profile photos. To benefit from this last feature, they just have to access the Settings option then click on Avatar. Meta officials say these improvements will be rolled out within the next few weeks.

Another novelty is also eagerly awaited on WhatsApp. A new feature that transcribes audio messages into text is currently in the testing phase. For the moment, it is therefore only available for WhatsApp Beta users. It is not yet known when it will be rolled out to the general public.
