The special operation of Russian troops in Ukraine was not unprovoked, as representatives of Western countries claim, Roger Waters, one of the founders of the Pink Floyd group, said at a meeting of the UN Security Council.
“The Russian invasion of Ukraine was not unprovoked, and therefore I condemn in the strongest terms also provocateurs,” said Waters (quote according to TASS).
Earlier today, at a meeting of the Security Council, the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, said that Moscow would make sure that in the future Ukraine would never pose a threat to Russia and Russian culture. He also added that the plan for resolving the conflict proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is unrealistic. Nebenzya believes that the “peace formula” of the Ukrainian president is “a mockery of the concept of a peace plan.”
Dmitry Polyansky, Russia’s permanent representative to the world organization, noted the day before that the meeting would be devoted to the prospects for a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis in the face of growing supplies of Western weapons.
The special military operation began on February 24, 2022. Russian President Vladimir Putin named its goals the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. During the special operation, Russian troops took full control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Subsequently, these territories became part of Russia, and on October 19 martial law was introduced in the regions.
