The Colts will have to rely on a rookie quarterback to validate their ticket to the playoffs.
Blow to Indianapolis. A few days before the meeting against Las Vegas, the Indiana franchise will be deprived of its quarterback. The Colts just announced that Carson Wentz has been placed on the COVID list. As an unvaccinated player, he will not be able to be reinstated in time to claim to participate in the meeting.
After three consecutive successes, Indianapolis, and its record of 9 wins for 6 losses, could secure its place in the playoffs with a victory against the Raiders still in the race as well. The Colts will have to rely on Sam Ehlinger to take over from a back-to-form Carson Wentz, as evidenced by his Thursday game against the Cardinals.
Selected in the sixth round of the last draft, the rookie Ehlinger did not play a single minute in this meeting. He will nevertheless be well supported by Jonathan Taylor, the current best running back in the league.
