PlayStation Showcase: The date of the next PlayStation show is probably taking shape

Speculations about a new PlayStation Showcase recently picked up speed in the next few weeks, on which Sony could then present upcoming PS5 blockbusters. Now the signs of a specific date seem to be growing.

From all appearances, the next PlayStation Showcase could take place in September for the foreseeable future. There is still no official confirmation for this, but if you believe new rumors, then it will happen.

At the beginning of August, the well-known and usually reliable insider Nick Baker had already emphasized that a PlayStation Showcase could possibly take place in August. Even then, however, he emphasized that his source also believes that a short-term shift is still possible – and that’s what could happen now, even if it won’t be very big.

Several sources now bring September 8th as the date for the PlayStation Showcase into play – and Nick Baker is now jumping on this train when asked. The insider says his source has now given him that date as well. The date was also chosen to trick the Disney & Marvel Game Showcase that had already been announced for September 9th and to get ahead of it.

Whether September 8th will be confirmed as the date for the next PlayStation Showcase remains to be seen. However, it is likely that the format will take place in the foreseeable future due to the fact that it already existed in 2021. The PlayStation Showcase set the bar high for its time and was significantly larger than Sony’s regular state-of-play formats. At that time, the remakes of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Alan Wake Remastered, Guardians of the Galaxy, Gran Turismo 7, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Wolverine and God of War Ragnarok were announced and/or presented.
