Poland warned about the threat of an explosion of about 500 wagons of Russian gas

Nearly 500 LPG railcars are at risk of explosion in Poland due to sanctions imposed on Novatek’s subsidiary Novatek Green Energy. Details on Saturday, April 30, with reference to the company RIA Novosti.

“A significant and very real danger is associated with the deprivation of the company of control and the impossibility of further transportation and unloading of about 500 railway cars filled with liquefied gas that legally entered Polish territory,” the report says.

The company said that a long idle time of cars on the tracks can lead to fire and gas emissions into the atmosphere. In this regard, there is a threat of a powerful and difficult to extinguish a fire.

“It is necessary to immediately take measures so that the approximately 40 million liters of propane-butane gas accumulated in rail tank cars arrive immediately and safely at transshipment terminals,” Novatek Green Energy added.

Poland recently imposed sanctions on 50 Russian individuals and companies. The list includes Acron, Gazprom and Novatek. As a result, several dozen regions of the republic were without fuel, which were provided by Novatek Green Energy.
