Pope Francis has appointed Spanish Father Aitor Jiménez Echave, CMF, as Undersecretary of the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life. The Vatican announced this on Thursday.

448 religious – 272 women and 176 men – currently live and work in South Tyrol. They belong to 16 men’s and 15 women’s orders, with the Capuchins among the men having 27 priests…

Father Echave was previously an employee of the same curial institution. He was born on December 29, 1962 in Luchana-Baracaldo (Spain). On September 13, 1987, he made his perpetual profession in the Congregation of the Missionary Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and was ordained a priest on April 30, 1989.

He earned a doctorate in Utroque Iure and a doctorate in theology of consecrated life from the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome. He holds several diplomas, including one in Eastern Canon Law. Since 2006 he has worked in the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life.
