2024-03-01 07:14:39

On Thursday, around 10:50 a.m., a 56-year-old driver was driving south on the A13. At the same time, a 59-year-old driver and his 58-year-old wife were driving north. According to initial findings from the cantonal police, there was a collision between the two vehicles in the Rofla tunnel, whereupon the southbound vehicle overturned and crashed into the wall of the tunnel niche.

The man in the overturned vehicle had to be freed with breaking tools and might only be rescued dead. The couple suffered moderate injuries. Rega, the Mittelbünden and Chur rescue service, the Andeer and Thusis fire departments and employees of the Graubünden civil engineering department were on duty at this accident.

During the rescue work and the investigation, heavy traffic in Cazis and San Vittore was held back for a good four hours; passenger cars were able to drive on the cantonal road. The Graubünden cantonal police are working with the public prosecutor to determine the cause of the accident.
