I am particularly pleased that the current high school graduate guide contains its own special on the profession of teacher

Vienna (OTS) – Continued high level of education: after taking into account the annual grades and compensatory exams, as in the previous year, hardly any pupils received an unsatisfactory graduation certificate. But what comes after that? The 2022 high school graduate survey identified a low level of information: 82% feel confronted with decision-making difficulties. (both: Source BMBWF) Idle phases without training or a job not only lead to high economic costs, but above all to personal insecurity among the already “crisis-stricken” young people.

They would like the education system and employers to have more opportunities for practice: Four out of five students consider it important to gain relevant practical experience before starting their career, and almost three quarters of the students believe that compulsory internships would make this easier. Those responsible directly at the schools also name the most promising measures, in addition to personal advice, reports from practice and the opportunity to try things out. However, the educators often lack time for educational and career orientation (66%), as the annual surveys as part of the high school graduate initiative by career Institut & Verlag show.

Positive vision

Overall, the 227 respondents are currently optimistic about the future. 45% of young people are (very) satisfied with the labor market situation. A good half said they would find a job easily. The survey runs until June 30th, students can go to umfrage.career.gmbh, students to jab.career.gmbh vote and take part in the competition. The online tool robin mood guarantees anonymity and data protection.

AI pilot on career blog and TikTok

In cooperation with the student union, the Maturant:innen initiative presents local employers, provides career information, supports decision-making and shows job, training and further education opportunities. The main focus in 2023 will be on the digital channels: In the career blog at matura-guide.at For example, an AI-supported chatbot answers the young people’s questions (from reliable sources, of course). The infotainment TikTok channel also ensures targeted range @maturant.innen. Similarly, the Maturant:innen-Guide as a book remains an important tool directly at schools. “I am particularly pleased that the current high school graduate guide contains its own special on the profession of teacher,” emphasizes Federal Minister Polaschek. Pupils and high school graduates can order it free of charge at [email protected].
