President Moon Jae-in and President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol will have a dinner meeting at the Blue House at 6 pm on the 28th. Just 19 days after the presidential election, it is the latest meeting between the old and the old powers in history.

Cheong Wa Dae spokeswoman Park Kyung-mi held a briefing at the Chunchugwan on the 27th at 10 am and said, “President Moon and President-elect Yoon decided to meet at a dinner on the 28th.”

President-elect Kim Eun-hye also briefed at the press conference of the Presidential Transition Committee in Samcheong-dong, Seoul at the same time, and said, “President Moon and President-elect Yoon agreed to meet at 6 pm on the 28th at the Blue House Sangchunjae Station.”

The meeting will be attended by Yoo Young-min, the chief of staff of the President, and Jang Je-won, the elected chief of staff.

The two sides explained that this meeting would be a place for candid dialogue without a set agenda.

Previously, President Moon and President-elect Yoon were scheduled to meet on the 16th, but the meeting was canceled four hours before the meeting on that day.

The reasons for the postponement of the meeting were the two vacant auditors of the Board of Audit and Inspection, a candidate for the Bank of Korea governor, the issue of the exercise of personnel rights for the National Election Commission member of the National Election Commission, and the opposition of the Blue House to the relocation of President-elect Yoon’s office to Yongsan.

It is said that the reason the meeting was held again was because the problem of personnel rights, which was a factor that had canceled the previous meeting, was resolved. The issue of appointing an audit committee member has been resolved as the Board of Audit and Inspection actually rejected the proposal for a new audit committee member in a report on the transition committee on the 25th and opposed the current government.

This is the first meeting between President Moon and President-elect Yoon in 21 months since the Anti-Corruption Policy Council, where Yoon-elect attended in the capacity of the Prosecutor General in June 2020.
