“The President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canelreceives the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the Palace of the Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ibrahim Raisiwho is making an official visit to our country,” the Cuban Foreign Ministry stated on its Twitter account.
On the morning of June 15, Raisi participated in a business forum between Cuban and Iranian businessmen, where the potential for bilateral collaboration was explored and the willingness to expand economic and investor ties was ratified.
During the forum, the representatives of both nations evaluated the possibilities of developing joint projects in the fields of biotechnology, mining and electricity generation, among others, according to a dispatch from the Cuban News Agency.
One of the announcements made during the business forum was the future realization of a Mixed Commission and the purpose of promoting an expo-fair dedicated to science and technology, according to the Deputy Minister for Economic Diplomacy of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mahdi Safari. The benefits of these businesses and the facilities for investments in the Mariel Special Development Zone, among other initiatives, were also discussed.
For its part, the Cuban representation reiterated its interest in contributing to the development of closer business ties and the willingness of the Cuban authorities to accompany Iranian businessmen in building mutually beneficial financial and commercial ties on equal terms.
