A video showing the president of the MR Georges-Louis Bouchez being jostled in the middle of the street while he was walking with his partner Lucie Demaret in Knokke is turning on social networks.
The incident happened this Saturday at the Lippenslaan in Knokke. According to information from HLN, Bouchez was pushed around and this particularly annoyed his companion, who shouted: “Flemish sales”. “They had first said that we were ‘dirty Walloons’ and that we had to return to Wallonia”, explains GLB.
In the video, the president of the MR can be seen asking a cyclist what the problem is. He is then violently pushed by the latter. We can see his companion arguing a little further and shouting “dirty flamingos” when she returns to the car.
It all started when GLB heard a bang in the back of his car. “At first I thought a cyclist had hit her. But I left enough space for them to pass. Then I went out to see what had happened. The woman made a gesture of anger and continued on her way and I followed her, ”says the politician again. “The light was green in the meantime, so my girlfriend took the wheel and she came to pick me up with the car. But in the end, I didn’t even get a chance to ask what happened. The man immediately took off his glasses and pushed me,” he explains again. “I know that I have to remain calm as a politician in such a situation,” he adds.
He then explained why his partner had been heard shouting “dirty Flemish”: “They shouted that we were dirty Walloons and that we had to return to Wallonia. And yes, instinctively, she recalled the same thing. She did not want to say that, because we both like to visit Flanders and often, “adds the president of the MR before concluding: “My companion is not a public figure. I wish people would leave her alone on social media.”
