A fire broke out at an apartment complex in China, causing major casualties, killing 15 people and injuring 44 people.

The fire started in an electric bicycle that was being charged on the first floor, and in China, more than 20,000 electric bicycle battery fires occurred last year alone.

Black smoke rises from the electric bicycle while it is charging and then suddenly explodes.

An electric bicycle battery that is being charged in the living room at home may explode.

In 2021, an electric bicycle exploded in an elevator in Chengdu, Sichuan, seriously injuring five people, including a 5-month-old baby.

″There was also a 5-month-old baby, but the life-threatening situation has passed and his condition is now stable.″

On the 23rd, in Nanjing, an electric bicycle fire led to significant casualties.

A fire that started from an electric bicycle charging on the first floor of an apartment complex spread upward, killing 15 residents and injuring 44 others.

The fire broke out in the early morning hours while everyone was asleep, and the damage was extensive because it was a 34-story high-rise apartment complex.

″The location of the fire is the middle floor of the first floor. There are still a lot of electric bicycles sitting here.″

It turned out that electric bicycle fires had occurred twice in this apartment, but no action was taken.

“We’ve spoken to the management office several times. I would like to create a parking lot exclusively for electric bicycles at this location. I didn’t make it. I talked to him several times, but it was no use.″

It is reported that there are currently more than 320 million electric bicycles in operation in China.

Electric bicycle fires also continue to increase, reaching over 21,000 last year alone, a 17.4% increase over the previous year.

On the evening of the 24th, a fire broke out in a high-rise apartment in Jamus City, Heilongjiang Province, but Chinese authorities only stated that there were no casualties.

In Chinese buildings, there are many warning posters that say, “It is against the law to leave an electric bicycle in the hallway or on the stairs,” and “You can lose your life in just 100 seconds.”

However, since there are not many external charging facilities, the reality is that they are not well maintained.
